GenerationOne joined up with DEEWR's Mobile-Try-A-Trade in the West Kimberley last week.
The project is a DEEWR initiative and involves a team of skilled trades' men and women and support staff, travelling around regional and remote areas of Northern Western Australia to promote career pathways in industries experiencing skills shortages in regional Western Australia.
Just a quick update to let you know that GenerationOne has now received letters from the Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, the Leader of the Opposition, Tony Abbott, and the Leader of the Australian Greens, Bob Brown in response to our letter of 4 August, proposing industry specific training and employment for Indigenous Australians.
All three letters can be viewed below (pdf):
We have also provided copies of the major party's election policies relating to Indigenous policy more broadly, which you can read here (pdf):
GenerationOne hopes this information helps you decide on Saturday, 21 August.
"Help close the gap by buying goods and services from Indigenous business. Ask if your employer is using Indigenous suppliers. This support will create jobs and wealth, which will in turn, close the gap."
“We’re all in this together. We all know that real change only comes from all Australians lending a hand, which is why I was so keen to get involved.’
“We will do our best to act with knowledge of the constant presence and power of Indigenous people in this country.”
